Progress Report #3: Calendar Collaboration

I've been slowly working on the calendar. It helps being here so I can actually talk to Victoria & brainstorm. What also helps is doing yoga twice a day again. Hoorah!
Here's October thus far.

So I was in my car talking on the phone, parked in a residential area, when I heard meowing. I wasn't quite sure where it was coming from. I thoroughly scanned my surroundings and didn't find the source. Then, all of a sudden, a CAT falls from the tree and onto the hood of my car. Ahhhh!! The kitty was very very friendly.In the evening, Victoria & I visited Reform School for a Pen Pal meeting. We cut out decipher wheels, wrote letters to our pen pals & geeked out about stationery. Oh fun fun fun.

LOS ANGELESSSSS!

I can't stay away from LA. Last time I was here, I was already searching for a reason to return. I found it in the form of Bob Wu's delivery of charmingwall gallery canvases & vending at LACE craft fair at the end of this month. Not too shabby, no?

Oh, it feels great to be back. Kevin & Bruce came over to Victo's and ate the chicken my mom cooked. Then we worked and worked the night awayI made more fabric tags! Yay!
Kevin graced us with his dessert... mochi, strawberry jam on graham crackers :)
Oh, another reason was to see b after essentially a year. Of course, OF COURSE, we met at Milk to go over my website and catch up.
He left quite the mess.

Power to the Peaceful & Beyond the Bay Bridge

Bina, Adam, Thomas & I drove to Golden Gate Park for 'Power to the Peaceful' featuring Michael Franti & Spearhead. I saw him briefly at Sasquatch and was incredibly moved by his ability to spread love & happiness. He struck gold again in SF!We traveled by '64 Mercedes. So classy. Like something out of Mad Men. The red plush seats were perfect for starting xmas inventory ;)

Especially Bina with her hand-dipped in chocolate oreos ice cream bar. YUM! We were sitting right behind it. Indulgence was inevitable.
Ugh! Adam! Next time make sure the area is clear before you start doing yoga! There goes a $6 beer...

Soooooooooooo many dogs. They're just so friendly and curious :)After the concert, we bought booze from a Russian grocery store,

and made our way to Oakland for a BBQ
on Jeff & Matt's roof just in time for the sunset.

We rocked out to Weezer, Neutral Milk Hotel, Miley Cyrus, Beirut, etc. A very eclectic collection of singing.
And scene. Saturday was a lovely day off indeed!

LA Craft Experience

Le Petit Elefant & {paper & type} will be sharing a booth at the Moon Festival, Chinatown Los Angeles on Sept 25th, 5pm-12am. Yay!!! We've never done an outdoor night market before... should be fun & interesting! I've been hustling steadily before knowing of this festival, but now that I doooo know! Oh brother! I just took inventory and well, I counted more than 30 plush so I could be in far worse shape :)

Mission Accomplished!

So, the story behind Dulce.A mister approached me with a project. He and his wife recently married and moved into a place that doesn't allow doggies, which meant no Dulce. To bring a smile to his wife's face, he commissioned me to sew a life-size version of their dog. Package received with open arms. He tells me she cuddles with the dog more than with him! Isn't that the cutest thing you've ever heard? I'm so happy & grateful play a small tiny part in it :)

While I worked on the calendar & sewed post-yoga, my sister and her friend Annie worked on my travel sized Totoro puzzle I got at the Ghibli Museum. Adam gave up on it but....They didn't! Yay!

A mostly labor-free Labor Day weekend

On Sunday I ventured into the city with Adam to watch "Handmade Nation." It. Was. Awesome!!! Oh to geek out on the big screen! We arrived there late so the friendly ticket mister was kind and let us in for free, which gave us a free ticket into the museum too! The Yerba Buena Center for the Arts had fun exhibit called "TechnoCRAFT: Design in the Age of Individuality" which was pretty darn appropriate considering the documentary we just watched. We ran around the museum like kids in a candy store :)

Afterwards, we walked from Union Square to the Castro to watch men oogle at Adam & pick up Hot Cookie cookies, specifically chocolate chip macadamia, oatmeal chocolate pecan, and chocolate fudge. Given two clues, we found Audrey at Dolores Park by the bicycles and toilets, girled-out (while Adam sketched), and waited in what was by the far the longest line I ever experienced at Bi-Rite. But it was okay. We had cookies to pass the time. Oh, and ice cream. Salted caramel & honey lavender... yum!

We met with Ravi, Niko, Joe & Alexis at Gracias Madre and oh god, the food was sooo good. Vegan Mexican food! Who knew!!

I love this photo because it was taken as Audrey told the table her blood giving/near-fainting incident yesterday. Get it up! Get it up! I can't wait to hear her podcast about it :)

We left the city but continued the party train with Adam's friends, which included taking a shot and getting into a pool with my clothes on at 2am. Oh, San Jose!

Annnnd then my sissy came home today!

And we ate in & out.

It feels good to have vacationed like the rest of the folk with "real" jobs.
