Modes of Transportation!

Thursday, December 03, 2009

I love traveling for those short glimpses into everyday life.
Buses, trains, autos, rickshaws... I'll take 'em all!
sitting in the train station:
ferry to elephanta island:
my preferred way of traveling: b&g express!

Taj Mahal... yeah I guess it's nice

Just kidding!
Don't go on Fridays! They're closed, which is a fact Sandeep and I failed to check when we arrived. Oops. Either way, I got my look at the palace the next morning, but found the tourist to be so much more interesting!!

henna inspired in punjab

Wednesday, December 02, 2009

I got henna on my hands for the wedding. It took a really long time (for both application AND waiting for it to dry), but it was worth the experience.
with the crusties:
post crusties removal:
my own version of it, while in transit from Ludhiana to Agra:

Sandeep has the photos from the wedding so I'll add later.

Back from Indialand! Back in the PI!

Boy, was I terrible at updating... I'm a visual person! I need pictures to accompany my experiences so here they come finally
(one month later) in chronological order....

New York City in the Pinas

Thursday, October 29, 2009

My view from the condo in Makati.
It's about as NYC as it gets in the PI,
which is good because I miss the big apple like no other.

I think a storm's a'brewin'!!

Happy Halloween!

not to mention greatest cloud kicker.

I made a wallet!

Tuesday, October 27, 2009

because my old one is chilling in Lake Washington with all the fishies.
I don't know why I look so serious.
I'm actually quite happy and proud of my felt & cotton wallet :)

Jeepney Time!

Monday, October 26, 2009

The jeepney is just as good for drawing & watching people as the nyc subway! Except it's a bit bumpier and I have to manage holding my sketchbook still with my drawing hand, as my other hand is occupied pressing a towel to my nose to avoid all the gross fumes & dust. Yum.

btw: this is a jeepney.

Hello from the PI!

Friday, October 23, 2009

So I'm the Philippines! I'd have photos to post, or at least a better way of digitzing my drawings if I had a camera that didn't fall into Lake Washington. So photobooth will have to do :)

The sketch is of an actual scene I saw on the street in metro Manila. Little guy looked so scared squished between his parents haha.

Do you want to know a secret?
ooh wahh oooooh

Do you promise not to tell?
woahh oooh oooh

Closer
ooh wahh oooooh

Let me whisper in your ear

Okay, too close!!

Oh silly times.

This is a custom order for Ms. Shannon Leith, the lovely photography guru based in Pasadena. She stumbled upon my creations in Majestical Roof & contacted me to make her very own. Her photos are lovely, & her engagement photo sessions are particularly delightfully fun.

The cardinal & branch took a good amount of time to make, not because the cardinal was difficult to sew, but because it rained so much during the summer! Finding a sunny day to go branch hunting in the park was almost impossible. Shout out to David for helping me on the hunt.

Harold & the Miles of Cupcakes

I realize I haven't mentioned anything about my children's book in progress... oops!
Well, here's a color spread :) Enjoy!
