Campfire-style Dinner in Berkeley

Thursday, June 07, 2012

I met Sam when vending at the Santa Cruz farmer's market last autumn. He was one of the first people I met and the friendliest guy ever! What made it even better was he worked for Scream Sorbet, which meant trading for ice cream & pints at the end of the day. YUM! He has since resigned his ice cream scooper, but works in a dairy farm making yogurt & milk. We've kept in touch since I stopped vending in Santa Cruz and he invited me to his Berkeley co-op for a campfire dinner.
Almost of all of the food served at dinner was attained by trading at farmer's markets. Dang, now that's a way to live!
The Peanut Vanilla was Sam's idea. It's also my favorite & their top seller. BOOM.

Sam is a generous host. He gave me some snacks to take home (fresh milk, olive oil bread baked that morning, and oranges that instead of making their way to Berkeley Bowl found their way into my tote bag). The milk is INCREDIBLE.
